The City Manager provides overall administrative supervision to all City of Benton Harbor departments and related agencies. The City Manager also directs the implementation of all Commission mandates and provides professional advice and authoritative recommendations on all matters before the Commission. The City Manager also prepares and administers and monitors the City’s operating and capital budgets and directs and participates in all Cities’ labor relations and personnel management activities. In conjunction with overseeing city purchasing activities and participates in the design and implementation of major civic development projects assuring satisfactory provisions of services to City residents, the City Manager takes overall responsibility for the maintenance of a favorable public relations posture for city government with city residents, surrounding communities and other local, state and federal agencies. The City Manager serves as the appointed Fire Chief in cases where vacancies occur.
